The Prince’s Trust

Our Explore Programme is a 12-week flexible Programme that aims to build people’s confidence, social skills, employability skills, and communication, all while meeting like-minded Young People and making friends.

We work with people aged 16-30 years old and deliver these skills through a variety of sessions, including:

  • Adventurous Activities (canoeing, climbing, abseiling, watersports, sailing, skiing & snowboarding, skateboarding, hiking and map reading and so much more!)
  • STEM
  • Conservation & Environmentalism
  • Art & Creativity
  • Employability
  • Personal/Life Skills
  • Mental Wellbeing

What should participants expect?

Participants will join initially on a three-day access, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, where they’ll do activities, bouldering (climbing without ropes) and bushcraft skills! They will then choose between 1-3 sessions per week that are most aligned with their goals on the Programme. They will also have the opportunity to go away on a 3-day residential stay in the middle of a nature reserve in the New Forest!

Participants have said they feel more confident in all areas of life after completing the Programme, and typically move onto one of our other Programmes, geared towards employment, or re-engage with education. Others have also gone onto traineeships or apprenticeships, or found work straight away!

Where does the activity take place?

In and around Southampton and the New Forest.

When does it take place?

There is an access point once per month, every month except for December.

Who can participate?

Anyone living in Hampshire that is aged between 16-30 years old that is NEET (not in education, employment or training).
