Flourish in Nature CIC
Support for people with additional needs to access volunteering opportunities in the New Forest.
Conservation projects, farming, horticultural and grounds maintenance activities and nature walks are some of the activities we offer.
What should participants expect?
A day out in Nature, getting involved in the practical tasks of getting to know and take care of the New Forest. With the Flourish Welfare Van, we can transport our groups to venues across the New Forest in comfort, taking our onboard seating and toilet facilities with us wherever we go.
We support our clients to take part in activities to the best of their ability, to learn new skills, share their skills and get to know others with a passion for caring for nature in the New Forest.
Where does the activity take place?
We have partners across the New Forest, so depending on your interest the activity can be based at
- a small community farm, with rare breed herds of sheep and cows, and conservation projects such as hedges, orchards, and pond creation.
- a charity providing outdoor activities, with estate maintenance and horticultural projects
- a community farm growing vegetables and maintaining wildlife habitats
- Wildlife and habitat conservation projects in woodlands or heathlands in the New Forest
We have partners across the New Forest. They are all places that welcome volunteers to be part of the work they do, and are either charities, community or environmental organisations who’s primary aim is care of the unique nature of the New Forest. Flourish in Nature aims to enable people who require additional support to be able to take part in these volunteer activities available to the wider community.
When does it take place?
Monday-Friday, approximately 9am-4pm depending on the location.
Who can participate?
Adults with additional needs eg learning disability, or other needs that they feel they prefer the comfort of a supported group and the facilities we can provide in order to access the volunteer opportunities.
Currently we are unable to provide medical or personal care, or mobility aids.
We offer a Day Service provision for adults with learning disabilities looking for regular, long-term opportunities and short-term work experience placements for individuals who wish to gain more work experience and build their confidence.
